Beauty Uses of Glycerin

Glycerin is a thick, viscous and sweet smelling organic compound, mainly composed of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. It is non-toxic, water-soluble and has hygroscopic nature, making it ideal for use in many skin care and hair care products. A hygroscopic compound draws water from the surrounding and retains moisture on the applied surface. There are two main sources of glycerin: animal fat and vegetable oil. It is important to know that glycerin should never be applied undiluted on skin or hair. Always dilute glycerin either with water or rose water.
