Foundation application is the key to the entire makeup. If the canvas on which you are going to work on is smooth and supple, it is easier to work on it. Most women always have the query of foundation looking patchy, dry, flaky and gray – the reason is the same. When the skin is not prepped prior to the application, the application goes wrong and not smooth and flawless. One should not concentrate only on how the foundation is applied, but on what it is applied. If the surface is not smooth, the application will not be smooth either. Once the surface is smooth, you will notice great results post application. How to make a surface smooth or in other words, how to prep & prime the skin prior to the foundation application?
The 4 steps of prepping & priming are:
- Cleansing
- Scrubbing
- Tone
- Moisturize
How to Prep & Prime?
Products should be picked according to the skin type. Pick what suits your skin the best. Moving on to how to follow the four steps?
Cleansing:
Take cleansing milk, and massage on your face using your fingers in circular motion for about 3-5 minutes. Doing so, with the warmth and the massage, the pores will open and the dirt sitting inside the pores come out. Wipe the face with a damp, warm muslin cloth. If you don’t have a muslin cloth, use cotton pads to wipe of the cleansing milk. Warm muslin cloth helps to cleanse the dirt, even more deeply
Scrub:
Next after cleansing comes scrubbing. Scrubbing helps to get rid of dead skin, which causes the patchy foundation application on the areas that has dead skin. Most girls have the question of dry patches after foundation application. Dead skin is the reason behind it. Use a mild scrub, take a little amount and scrub the face gently in circular motion for about a minute or two and then wash off your face.
Tone:
Toning is the step which closes and tightens the pores. It prevents dirt and foundation to sit into the pores.
Moisturize:
As much as other steps are necessary, moisturizing is too! Most girls ask and think that, “Do women with oily skin need to moisturize?“. They certainly do. Every skin needs moisture, to stay soft. The difference is in the formula. There is a moisturizer for every skin type. Choose and pick wisely according to the skin type you have.
Oily skin women should pick the moisturizer which is a gel and water based. They should start applying the moisturizer from the outer section of the face, instead of from the middle. Why? Because, T-zone is the area that gets oily. Avoid a lot of moisturizer on the t-zone, focus mainly on the outward face and bringing the left over inwards. As for dry skin, start from the inwards while taking it outwards.
After all these steps, you’ll notice a very soft and supple skin. The foundation will go on smoothly, will not look patchy and will stay longer. Not only that, you will need lesser product. The skin needs this pampering to stay healthy and glowing. Try these basic steps, and achieve flawless looking foundation.
